Anamorphic by Peeta

This Anamorphic work by the artist Peeta shows an extreme transformation of the building, transforming ordinary architecture into something extraordinary and unusual. In this mural, the disposition of the different shapes clashing with each other and playing with the windows creates a sort of optical illusion on the wall. The artwork features an organic shape with primary colors that engage in a dynamic interplay with brown, white, and black contrasts.

One curious thing about street art is that some colors fade faster than others, which happens to be the case in this artwork with the yellow part, which is considerably more faded than pictures of the fresh painting. The fact that the yellow is in the top part, which is more exposed to the weather conditions, also plays a part in this. Even with this bit of detail, this mural still prevails as one of the most outstanding from the RSAM collection, with a composition that no one can be indifferent about.

About the artist:

Peeta’s artistry spans pictorial, sculptural, and mural compositions, characterized by the interaction of geometric shapes with their environments. A graffiti artist since 1993, Peeta is based in Venice and is a member of various crews, including EAD in Padova, FX, and RWK in New York City. He has participated in numerous global festivals and art shows, focusing on sculptural lettering and anamorphism. Peeta aims to highlight the deceptive nature of human perception through visual tricks, so his approach consists of playing different geometrical forms with architectural elements, enhancing and changing an ordinary building into something special. He defines his body of work as an “interruption of normality.”

Peeta developed this style initially focused on the sculptural quality of letters from his name, Peeta, which has evolved to blend traditional graffiti lettering with three-dimensional styles, creating a unique visual rhythm. Sculpture played a crucial role in Peeta’s practice, allowing him to explore three-dimensionality and the dynamics of light and shadow; transforming his first sculptures of letters into anamorphic shapes, he discovered his own way of crafting truly original art!  Peeta creates sculptures using professional 3D design software: his fiberglass sculptures are crafted from acrylic resin and fiberglass shells, while bronze sculptures are made using an investment casting technique. Peeta paints on canvases with acrylics and oils, utilizing brushes and airbrush techniques. This artist uses various materials and techniques, adapting his designs to these different mediums.
