Feis4ever by TelmoMiel

This mural is a tribute to the rapper Faysal Msyeh (artistic name Feis). Feis was well known for his friendly demeanor and close relationship with his fans. He aimed to set an example for the younger generation, pushing them away from misguided paths. People looked up to him even more in the Oude Westen as a former neighborhood resident. In 2019, he tragically fell victim to a shooting at the Nieuwe Binnenweg while intervening in a fight. His senseless death led to this sentimental and meaningful portrait.

The mural was funded through a crowdfunding campaign by his friend and fellow artist, Winne. This allowed Feis’ family and friends to contribute to its creation collectively. In this artwork, the tones are predominantly neutral, in a composition that overlays images of an interview with the rapper (visible on the hands, reproduced in two different positions), adding some abstract cuts to it, creating more dynamism. Feis will always be remembered in the neighborhood and considered a legend in the Dutch Hip-Hop scene.

About the artists:

Telmo Miel is a duo of artists from The Netherlands: Telmo Pieper (born in Rotterdam in 1989) and Miel Krutzmann (born in Amsterdam in 1984). They met at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Miel drew on his experience in muralism to encourage Telmo to join him, which ultimately inspired them to form a crew with their friend, Codex Inferno. Some years later, in 2012, they officially became the duo we know today. The fusion of their distinct styles defines Telmo Miel: Miel’s romantic, picturesque approach contrasts with Telmo’s humorous and provocative elements.

They blend photorealism with abstraction and surrealism, creating epic scenarios with outstanding protagonists. They work together in the murals, but in the initial phase, they do separate sketches and then proceed to mix them up. In addition to mural painting, TelmoMiel also produces canvas works. In 2012, they established a studio/store called Sober Collective in Rotterdam, where they displayed their creative ideas. With a lot of international recognition, they have completed stunning murals across numerous countries in all five continents and have illustrated for publications like Playboy and Nusport.
